Letter I was the focus this week. We had ice cube races, wrote our names with ice, "ice skated" (with the help of wax paper), and had a snow ball fight. We made igloos and insect houses and continued working on writing our letters and numbers. This is a fantastic group of kids and they are progressing everyday!

Week 9: Hats
Hat day was a success! We learned about different jobs and purposes for hats. We also learned a silly hat song that helped us sound out words. The students loved playing magic letter eraser to work on our letter recognition and phonics. We made "H houses" and I loved to hear them tell each other about their houses and families. All of the students are now comfortable talking in front of the class and answer questions as they tell us about their show and tell, it is so great to see them progress!

Week 8: Months of the Year
We filled up our happy jar this week! Each time a student is caught doing something great they put a puff ball in the happy jar. When in gets filled to the top the class gets to pick something from the treasure box. We also learned our "Months of the Year" song this week and talked about holidays and Birthdays. A special guest came and played the guitar and the students joined in the fun with different musical instruments. We counted and sorted gumballs, filled Gus the Goat's garage with G words and matched upper and lowercase letters. These kids make me laugh and I love how excited they are about the things we do!

Week 7: Farms
This was one of my favorite weeks so far. We focused on the letter F and did activities with Farms, Family, Friends, Frogs and Fish! We had a special guest come and bring a tractor for the kids to see and talked to us about farming. They loved it! The kids also loved getting their farm pigs nice and muddy. Some of them were a little nervous to get their hands dirty when we practiced writing the letter F in the mud. We learned about the life cycle of a frog and planted our own seeds to watch them grow! These kids are doing great on their letter recognition, writing and counting.
